About Us
High on the Hog catering was started in 1993, as a part-time catering business, by Sonny and Donette Esposito. Demand for its services quickly made it necessary to move the business into a full-time concern, as word spread of our signature smoked bbq meats, succulent spit-roasted meats (pigs) and the wide variety of our delicious Italian and Americana cuisine. High on the Hog also developed a reputation for its artistic display of food, the stylistic buffet presentation and professional staff. Sonny and Donette opened TOSCANO PARK, a 200 seat banquet facility in September of 1995 in the Knights of Columbus building on Park Avenue in Bridgeport. This location provided the facilities necessary to launch HIGH ON THE HOG CATERING as a full-time off-site catering business and special event planning service. Here, it developed a strong corporate catering base, as well as providing all types of private catered events, from weddings, to reunions, to birthdays, showers and graduations. In 2001, Sonny and Donette moved HIGH ON THE HOG CATERING from Park Avenue to downtown Bridgeport, where they also opened HIGH ON THE HOG BBQ BISTRO, as part of the downtown redevelopment plan. From this location, HIGH ON THE HOG grew to include online private school lunch programs, and to provide catering and craft services to the burgeoning film industry in the state of CT. In March of 2009, Sonny and Donette again relocated HIGH ON THE HOG CATERING from its Bridgeport location to be housed within Jennie’s Pizzeria in Monroe with the DeSimone family, who are close personal and professional friends. This move allowed the Espositos to expand their successful catering business from HIGH ON THE HOG CATERING into CT CATERING & SPECIAL EVENT SERVICES, LLC. HIGH ON THE HOG CATERING maintains its own niche, while CT Catering & Special Events encompasses all facets of their catering business, including the private school lunch program, film production services and special event planning. This has allowed them to expand into offering organic menus for their private school lunch programs, expand into new markets and provide for the future retail of its signature meats and sauces.
